More than 44K votes cast in Pinellas County CD 13

The race to succeed the late U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young is well under way, as Pinellas County voters cast more than 44,000 ballots so far in Florida’s 13th Congressional District contest.  

Of the 191,296 ballot requests for CD 13 as of Friday, 23.1 percent — 44,326 — have returned to county Supervisor of Election offices.

Republicans hold a slight lead in the number of returned ballots broken down by party affiliation:

  • Republican — of the 77,863 requested, 18,786 (41 percent) were returned, or 42 percent of all returns.
  • Democratic — of the 70,645 requested, 17,387 (37 percent) were returned, or 39 percent of all returns.
  • Other/No Party Affiliation — of 42,788 requested, 8,153 (22 percent) were returned, or 18 percent of all returns.  

Three candidates are on the ballot: former Bill Young general counsel David Jolly, past Florida CFO Alex Sink and Libertarian candidate Lucas Overby.

Early voting is from March 1-9; the general election is March 11.

Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections Offices is available for ballot drop-off:

  • 315 Court St., Room 117, Clearwater
  • 501 1st Ave. N., St. Petersburg
  • 13001 Starkey Rd., Largo (Starkey Lakes Corporate Center)

Mail-in ballot drop-offs at the SOE offices are for the following dates and hours:

  • Until February 28: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. During then, offices are closed holidays and weekends.
  • March 1-9: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Then, offices are open Saturdays and Sundays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Monday, March 10: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 11: 7 a.m. to 7: p.m.

March 1 through Election Day, March 11, the following locations will also be available for mail-in ballot drop-offs:

  • North County Tax Collector Office, 29399 US Hwy. 19 N., Clearwater: Monday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Election Day, 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.)
  • Pinellas Park Library, 7770 52nd St., Pinellas Park: Monday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Election Day, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.)
  • Gulf to Bay Tax Collector Office, 1663 Gulf to Bay Blvd., Clearwater: Monday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Election Day, 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.)
  • South County Tax Collector Office, 1800 66th St. N., St. Petersburg: Monday,  8  a.m. – 4 p.m. (Election Day, 8 a.m.  – 7 p.m.)
  • Seminole Community Library, 9200 113th St. N., Seminole: Monday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Election Day, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.)
