Florida Sheriffs Association names Susan Benton its first woman president


Highlands County Sheriff Susan Benton was named Friday to be the new president of the Florida Sheriffs Association, the first woman to hold the post, reports the News Service of Florida.  Benton has chaired the group’s board, and held several leadership positions.  As president, Benton will be a main spokesperson for county sheriffs around the state. She replaces Volusia County Sheriff Ben Johnson.
