The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee released a new digital ad Tuesday focusing on Republican David Jolly, “ties” with insurance companies and his views about the Affordable Care Act.
In the 30-second digital ad “They Profit,” the DCCC tries linking Jolly to “insurance companies and special interests,” declaring they are organizations which spent “millions of dollars” on his campaign.
They also maintain the Republican wants to both “end Medicare’s guarantee” and reverse the Affordable Care Act — talking points consistent throughout the Pinellas County 13th Congressional District race.
What’s more, the ad suggests that, with Jolly in Congress, America will return to a time when insurance companies had “free rein to charge women more than men” and deny coverage for pre-existing conditions.
Jolly’s position on Obamacare is well known, but the claim on “ending Medicare” is questionable, at best.
“Who’s behind these ads smearing Alex Sink,” the voiceover asks. “Insurance companies and special interests,” is the answer, ending with the tagline: “They profit. We pay the price.”
