Former state Representative Eric Eisnaugle is wasting no time in his bid to return to the Florida House.
Look for Eisnaugle to file on Monday to run in the House District 44 special election ordered on Friday by Gov. Rick Scott say sources close to the campaign.
“As a conservative, I believe government needs to be smaller, more efficient, and should foster private-sector opportunity. I also believe elected officials are there to serve their constituents, not the other way around.” Eisnaugle says in a release shared in advance with SaintPetersBlog. “Those are the values I will fight for every day.”
Eisnaugle has already raised more than $173,000 for previously opened campaign account. Two Democrats have also filed to run in November for the seat, Shaun Raja of Orlando and Lee Douglas of Winter Garden. Raja had raised $1,500 as of Dec. 31. Douglas, who former Rep. Steve Precourt defeated by nearly 20 percentage points in 2010, has loaned his own campaign $850.
Eisnaugle previously served four years in the Florida House. He chose not to run for a third term when, during redistricting, he was drawn into the same seat as a fellow Republican. Eisnaugle has remained active in the community as a member of the West Orange Chamber of Commerce and as a Guardian Ad Litem (advocate for abused and neglected children), among other involvements.
The special primary election in HD 44 will be held March 11, while the special general election will be held on April 8.
