Due to severe weather and flooding in Florida’s Panhandle, Governor Rick Scott has canceled his planned appearance in Largo with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

Scott and Christie had planned to visit ConMed Corp., to “celebrate the elimination of the sales tax on manufacturing machinery & equipment. ConMed makes arthroscopy, orthopedic powered surgical onstruments and medical video systems that meet the endoscopic needs of today’s arthroscopist and all other general surgeons.

Pensacola state Representative Clay Ingram tweeted at me this morning that he has spoken with Scott and the governor has promised he will do all he can do to help the Panhandle recover from this storm.

The State Emergency Operations Center in Tallahassee has been activated to Level Two, according to a release from the Governor’s office.
