Barbara Pariente was one of four Florida Supreme Court justices who upheld sweeping changes the state made in 2011 to the public employee retirement system. Pariente joined Jorge Labarga, Ricky Polston, and Charles Canady in ruling for the state (and Rick Scott).
Progressives should be up in arms with Pariente today. They just spent much of 2012 defending Pariente against an effort to unseat her via merit retention. Today, she returned that favor by ruling against public employees.
As progressive leader Susannah Lindberg Randolph’s Facebook status sums up neatly, “WTF, Barbara Pariente. WTF.”
