AJ Matthews, who recently suspended his campaign for House District 57, has officially thrown his support behind Dana Young for the seat.
“Dana Young is the person we need representing our community in the Florida House,” said Matthews. “She is a conservative who will stand up for our Republican principles and be a powerful voice for us in the legislature.”
“AJ is a true public servant. He has served our community as Tampa Police Officer, and our country in the Coast Guard Reserves. I am honored to have AJ’s support as our campaign moves forward.”
Dana Young is a sixth-generation Floridian, whose grandfather, Randolph Hodges, served many years in the Florida Senate, ultimately serving as President of the Senate. Dana’s Uncle, Gene Hodges, served 16 years in the Florida House of Representatives and her father, Don Duden, devoted his entire professional life to state government, retiring as the Assistant Secretary of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Dana is a product of the Florida public school system, graduating from Leon High School in Tallahassee, and then Florida State University. She went on to receive her Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia School of Law. Upon graduating, Dana and her husband, Matt, returned to Florida, making Tampa their home. Dana, Matt and their two daughters live in South Tampa.
House District 57 encompasses South Tampa, parts of Town and Country and a portion of Westchase in Hillsborough County.
