Despite all of the media attention given to the Tampa Bay Rays and the effort to build a new stadium for the team, the issue most on St. Petersburg voters’ minds is crime. More than a third of city voters listed crime as “most important issue facing St. Petersburg.
A cursory read of the open-ended section of this question indicates that voter concern about crime is as strong as it is widespread. The word “crime” came up in over half of the answers offered by respondents.
