I realize there are a lot of names being bantered about as to who might replace Jennifer Carroll in the Lieutenant Governor’s chair. Those being mentioned most often include Senator Anitere Flores and Representative Dana Young. Here’s another one that makes sense, at least on paper.
Representative Doug Holder.
One prominent Republican operative and lobbyist touted Holder to me as a “do no harm” pick who has been vetted thoroughly in several elections. He’s also close to some of the heavy-hitter donors in Sarasota and Tampa Bay, where could be dispatched to raise money in a way that less polished candidates might not be able to.
He could also legitimately work to advance the Governor’s initaitves in the Legislature.
Most important, Holder might be the most natural, comfortable fit for Rick Scott, at least more so than Flores or Young. Like Scott, he has a track record of business success in several different fields. That experience would help him shoulder some of the work load with the Scott’s priority of recruiting businesses to Florida.
Doug Holder for LG.
Just a thought, just a thought.
