House Bill 239 by Representative Matt Caldwell is on the agenda to be heard in today’s House Health & Human Services Committee meeting.
The bill, backed by the Florida Optometric Association, has already made it through its first committee stop in the House and, if successful today, would be ready for the House floor. The Senate companion bill, Senate Bill 278 by Senator Garrett Richter, passed its second committee of reference in the Senate yesterday and has one more committee stop before it is ready for the Senate floor. Legislation supported by optometrists would help ensure greater access to primary eye care for Floridians by allowing optometrists to prescribe approved oral medications to treat diseases and conditions of the eye.
