In October of 2005, Jim Rexroad, a Pinellas Park Police Officer, lost a childhood friend to Leukemia. He passed away at the age of 40 leaving behind two children and a wife. Victor Griffin, a deputy with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, is providing support to a family member who is courageously battling the same disease. On October 18, 2006, Victor’s nephew finally lost his battle with this disease at the age of 40. He left behind a wife and three children. In honor of those who are close to them, Jim and Vic are holding a fund raising event to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
On March 28th, 2009, there will be a Rock-a-Thon at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant located at 4011 Ulmerton Road in Clearwater. The event will involve people rocking in rocking chairs from 8 in the morning till noon, or from noon till 4:00 PM. Each rocker is asked to bring in pledges for his/her time rocking. There are many ways you can help Vic and Jim in their endeavor.
