Cathi Martin has returned to the Pasco School Board, refreshed after a variety of medical problems, and hasn’t missed a meeting since. Her plan to resign is no more.
Yet Martin has yet to get any closure on the matter of three lawmakers’ request to have her removed from office. And that letter, which cited her spotty attendance record over years, remains in play.
“I can only speak for myself, the letter that was sent has not been changed,” state Sen. Mike Fasano told the Gradebook.
The question is, will Gov. Charlie Crist risk alienating one group of Pasco voters (those who support Martin) to curry favor with another (Fasano’s camp)? The governor’s press office was noncommittal.
“We are reviewing the request by Senator Fasano,” spokesman Sterling Ivey said, “and have not determined whether to move forward in seeking the removal of School Board Member Cathi Martin.”
