As Rep. Darryl Rouson’s Child Abduction Prevention Act (which I track using LobbyTools) passes its first Senate committee, national support builds to ensure that this legislation becomes law. Individuals who have fought in other states to pass similar legislation are now offering their support to help pass the Child Abduction Prevention Act in Florida.
When there are over 370,000 reported child abductions every year, it is no wonder that Peter Thomas, author of the book Chasing the Cyclone, is interested in helping HB 787 become law. Mr. Thomas sent this press release (http://bit.ly/9PozV2) to the vast number of grassroots supporters who are now interested in seeing this bill passed so children and families can prevent the tragedy of child abductions.
Larry Synclair helped passed similar legislation in California after his own experience with child abductions. Mr. Synclair has committed to helping Representative Rouson pass this legislation in Florida.
Texas resident and victim of child abduction, Ken Connelly, has also taken notice of HB 787 and has made a commitment to testify in committee regarding this important issue. Mr. Connelly was a major supporter and pushed similar legislation in the Texas legislature.
A petition in support of Representative Rouson’s legislation can be signed here.
As you can see, there is broad support for this bill, and Rep. Rouson anxiously awaits a committee agenda from Representative Ambler’s Public Safety and Domestic Security Policy Committee.
