in The Bay and the 'Burg by

Pinellas County’s Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) reviewed the area’s newly released 2014 Crash Data Report during their July 8 regular meeting. The report examines crash data between 2011 and 2013, with the compilers having taken 2014 to organize and make sense of the statistics. Data from car, motorcycle, bicycle and pedestrian- related crashes were recorded. Like life, the report entertains both the good and the bad. Dave Eggers is cooking up a fundraiser

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

Dave Eggers, candidate for Mayor of Dunedin (and for whom I have previously worked), has cooked an interesting idea for a fundraiser called “Cooking with the Candidate” where you can join Dave and Chef John, the resident Chef for WFLA, for a five-course dinner of Dave’s favorite foods at LaMaison Gourmet (471 Main Street). Ummm, cooking, politics, eating…some of my favorite pasttimes. And remember what Chef Alice Waters said, “Eating is a political act.”

Dunedin’s municipal elections take shape

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

Often overlooked by the Times and the rest of the local media, as well as voters judging by the low-turnouts, are Pinellas’ municipal elections held in spring of the “off-year.” These elections are important because of their obvious impact on the cities in which they are conducted, but they are also interesting to those in the political arena because today’s city commissioner is tomorrow’s state legislator. For example, state represenative Tom Anderson got his start as mayor and state representative…
